Family Therapy
Always a
helpful and important adjunct treatment to any individual therapy regimen.
In today’s world, most families deal with constant stress, stemming from
many sources: job stress or job loss, poor communication, unresolved
problems, marital or family conflict, child rearing difficulties,
financial problems, and family role conflict (such as who does which house
chores or cares for the kids), for starters. Family loyalty differences,
kid’s (or spouse’s) bad habits, and a lack of quality time together are
also key family conflict sources. The list of family stresses goes on and
on…
Family therapy can assist in guiding a family through
discussion of family problems and help resolve differences productively. A
family in only as healthy as the weakest link. The marital unit is the
foundational unit. If a couple lets marital conflict dominate their family
interactions at home, they will end up depressed, miserable, not only
failing each other, but also their kids. Whatever the problems may be,
whatever the source, family therapy can assist family members in learning
how to listen, communicate, respect, forgive, compromise, and heal. |
